The term Web3d describes any programming or descriptive
language that can be used to deliver interactive 3D objects and worlds across
the internet. This includes open languages such as Virtual Reality Modeling
Language (VRML), Java3D and X3D (under development) - also
any proprietary languages that have been developed for the same purpose come
under the umbrella of Web3d.
The Web3D Repository is an impartial, comprehensive, community resource
for the dissemination of information relating to Web3D and is maintained by
the Web3D Consortium. A change of name

Changes to The Repository
Following the shift of the VRML Repository from the San Diego Super computer Center to the Web3D Consortium and taking into consideration
the evolution of 3D technologies on the web, a facility that limits itself to just one of these will lose relevance for programers and content
creators. This repository will rename and restructure itself to reflect these changes. For an interim period, the repository will call itself the Web3D/VRML Repository or the Web3D Repository with the aim to be known as
the Web3D Repository eventually. Due to the part-time nature of the work in restructuring the Repository, changes will
take some time - you understanding and patience while this is carried out is appreciated.
